Horrid Dire Weasels, CR 4 (x3), 675/600 xp, 3rd/4th level (Mouser and Catrina both ping 4th level)

Treasure:  None, just mostly free xp… This was my first attempt at a "random" encounter.  The Weasels' had a Blood Drain ability that would have made them much more dangerous if I had used a different attack formation.  Also, they could have taken out a party member in the first round if they had all three attacked the same target.  Acidic Attack and Improved Natural Attack also helped make them a bit nastier.  Still, it felt like free xp.  Only the cost of X doses of Goodberry wine to get Mouser back up to full…

Zombie Vulture, CR 1/2, no xp awarded.

A fluff fight, there was no way for the vulture to win.  It did put the spurs to the party as far as entering Whitehearth goes, though, with the fear of the Emerald Claw cavalry descending upon them at any moment.

Treasure: None

Shocking Grasp Decoy Traps, CR 3, 130 xp awarded

Treasure: None

Note to self: Must work on poker face, had to keep face hidden behind module because I was trying not to giggle as the party worked out this puzzle.  Laughing at the party is not kind.  Neither is rolling for your miss chance and shouting woo hoo! when you're roll succeeds by 1 percent.

Rorsa, awakened Dire Wolf, 100 xp awarded for avoiding combat and agreeing to help her rescue the other wolves being guarded by a crazy stone wolf.

Half Stone Golem Wolf, CR 4, 200 xp

Treasure (promised):

green keycharm (from Rorsa)

pearl of power (from Rorsa)

And then there were 6.
My way's not very sportsmanlike...

Failin decided it would be a an excellent cover to register the party as official relic hunters with the Morgrave University Outpost located in the village of Olkhaan prior to dropping them off outside the Mournlands.  While purchasing last minute provisions, the party encountered a young woman who had need to enter the Mournlands in order to track down a warforged thief.  The party agreed to let her follow them into the Mournlands until she is able to pick up the trail of the thief.

Under Mouser's guidance, the party successfully navigated the mists and spent an uneventful night camping atop a hillock overlooking the surrounding barren plains.  The next morning they came across the 4 year old ruins of a seige engine and the corpses of the Brelish troops who were manning the engine on the day of Mourning.  When Toff approached the corpses he was accosted by the distorted skeletons of 4 wolves and a dire wolf.

I suspect the party will likely be investing in weapons to cover damage types other than piercing and slashing at the first opportunity.

350/333 experience points were awarded depending on the PC's level.

a magic light mace was recovered from the bodies by casting a detect magic spell.

Toff and Sha'Avel sustained considerable injuries.

Catrina cast Magic Missile x2, Scorching Ray x2, Mage Armor, and the Magic Stone Infusion.
